Commercialisation strategy support

,

Working with Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC), we provided independent advice and technical assistance to the Director of Commercialisation and Innovation to assist in the development, planning and communication of an innovative, growth-focused commercialisation strategy across the organisation.

SRUC is a Higher Education institution, providing research, education and consultancy, to the rural and land-based industries of Scotland and internationally. SRUC is undergoing a major transformation as it develops a strategic aim of becoming a world-class 21st Century rural university that is regional, accessible, market-focused and responsive to a diverse range of rural challenges.

The organisation is developing a business model comprising regional specialisms and faculties that create new opportunities for partnerships, co-location, investment and growth. Key to driving this change was the development of a new Commercialisation & Innovation strategy. The aim of the strategy is to improve revenue growth and profitability from existing activities, and to assist the diversification of income streams through the identification of sustainable new revenue opportunities.

Following the review of SRUC’s existing commercial operations, we assisted the Director of Commercialisation & Innovation in developing and articulating the new strategy as it evolved. The deliverables of this project included strategy papers and presentation information that identified and communicated the new commercial objectives for the organisation.

Future priorities for implementation of the strategy include a greater level of engagement in Business Development, approaches to increase entrepreneurial activity and improve the quality of partnerships for the impactful delivery, translation and application of SRUC research.
