Funding Applications

We support funding applications by facilitating project conceptualisation, consortium building, business case preparation, M&E planning and budget development. As well as writing bids we can also review applications, give feedback and provide advice around subsidy control and contractual matters.  

We have been successful in Local Growth Funds, Community Renewal Fund, SBRI grants, UKRI place-based programmes like Strength in Places, Defra Farming Innovation grants and Innovate UK competitions including Smart, Transforming Food Production and Investor Partnerships.

We also support clients in the procurement of service providers including the development of ITTs and the assessment of technical and financial responses.

We work on a diversity of assignments from long-term, regionally focused projects to smaller one-off technology development projects. We can help with business case development; financial management, planning and forecasting; resource management; project scheduling, monitoring and reporting; risk management; communication; project evaluation; and exploitation.

Through our tailored service, we ensure that projects are delivered to time, cost and scope. We can help to clearly define project goals and the pathways to achieving them. We will work through the complete lifecycle of a project covering definition, consortium building, leadership, stakeholder management, staff development, delivery and impact evaluation.

Skills Development

We can help sector leaders, organisations and individuals to identify skills and knowledge gaps and formulate a strategy or development plan to address them. With many years’ experience in educational and management roles, we can also provide coaching, mentoring and training support.

We have worked with a range of organisations in the agri-food, agri-tech, research and education sectors to enhance leadership, business and technical skills among their teams. We have also worked with young people in rural areas to deliver personalised learning programmes and skills development opportunities on a one-to-one, small group or remote learning basis.

Technical Writing

Having worked in research and knowledge transfer for many years we are experienced technical writers capable of communicating complex ideas to a range of audiences.

We have written Five Case Business Plans, peer-reviewed scientific papers, literature reviews, project reports, technical manuals, guidance and policy documents, training materials, continual improvement plans, and funding applications. We can produce content for print and digital publications, internal documents, websites and presentations.

We can translate complex technical information into clear, concise and well-informed content that explains concepts and presents analyses in a readable and digestible form.

Analysis and Advice

We are well versed in collecting, collating, and analysing data to draw conclusions and make recommendations. We help organisations in their decision-making and delivery by providing independent and well-informed expert advice.

Interim Management

John and Emma have proven track records as company directors who have worked with senior leadership teams in several organisations.

With experience of senior management in a leading plant science organisation, as Client Services Director and then Operations Director, John brings a wealth of Senior Executive and Board level experience. Emma brings experience from her Senior and county-wide roles in the education sector.

Our Interim Management service provides an effective business solution at Executive or Board level over a defined period. This may include transformation and turnaround management, business improvement, crisis management and strategy development & implementation. This particularly suits John’s skill set with his strong Operations Management capability.
